As you know, Henrik in Action is based on exploring, sharing and raising awareness. Next to my explorations at sea, I want to use the time at the stopover ports to support, share and raise awareness for the important work with children in need. Therefore, I was looking for a worldwide operating charity that I could support throughout my journey.
Today, I am happy to announce that I will be partnering with SOS Children’s Villages, also know as SOS Kinderdörfer. SOS children’s villages aim at not only giving a roof over every orphan’s head, but also a family where they can grow up safely, until they can stand on their own feet. This, combined with the facts that the charity has national associations in each country I will visit and also villages in some of the stopover ports, convinced me to support SOS children’s villages. Stopover ports with SOS children’s villages are the following:
- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Cape Town, South Africa
- Da Nang, Vietnam
- Qingdao, China
Furthermore, I want to visit a SOS children’s village in my current hometown, Hamburg, Germany.
More details regarding the partnership with SOS Children’s Villages will follow during the next weeks.
