The first leg already jumps into full action including the official race start, the
navigationally challenging traffic conditions of the English Channel, the first Atlantic crossing, as well as equator crossing, before arriving in my previous hometown, Rio de Janeiro. It was
here where I experienced my first sailing days – the first step towards a now life fulfilling hobby.
Although deemed as one of the “warmer” legs of the circumnavigation, the first leg can include everything, from heavy winds and frightening weather to no wind around the equator, where northeast and southeast trade winds meet. Our arrival in Rio de Janeiro is expected between the 26th and 30th September 2015. Until then I will have no access to internet but am happy to answer any questions when after my arrival in Rio. In the meantime you will be able to track me. Please look out for the tracking application, which will be published tomorrow on www.clipperroundtheworld.com, where you will also receive general updates from my team. The complete route, as well as other expected dates can be found here.
