The next leg will be a bit shorter than the first one, but therefore also more challenging. As we will proceed down the cost of South America, the teams have to decide for the right moment to start to move to the east. We will aim for the small corridor between the current high in the South Atlantic and the numerous lows in the Southern Ocean. There we will face much stronger winds, bigger seas and wind mainly from the aft. This will allow us to fly our asymmetric spinnakers for most of the time, before aiming to get favorable currents towards Cape Town. The last challenge right at the finish line will be the wind shadows that Table Mountain creates in Table Bay, because if you get stuck it is hard to get the boat moving again.
